Vice President of Client Services – Shopper Insights Market Research & Consulting


Position Overview

We are seeking an outgoing and entrepreneurial Vice President of Client Services (VPCS) to manage a team that serves Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) shopper insights professionals who rely on us to gather useful data, reveal actionable insights, and drive profitable change. As VPCS, you will have oversight and leadership of activities in marketing/business development, operations, client services and financial performance of the organization. The ideal candidate is an expert in the art and science of shopper insights, adept at balancing internal needs with external demands, passionate about business development, and has what it takes to be an integral leader in a rapidly growing business.


Responsibilities Include:

Marketing & Business Development

  • Drive sales and marketing strategy and work on initiatives to grow the business.
  • Ensure that the marketing plan is consistently executed in support of the company’s growth strategies.
  • Identify prospects and actively manage the sales process to convert new business.
  • Build and maintain personal relationships/networking opportunities with market leaders, senior-level client contacts, and industry analysts.
  • Actively participate on key professional and trade organization boards, and attend functions and meetings to expand visibility of the organization.

Account Leadership

  • Coach and mentor client services team to deliver superior shopper insights to our clients.
  • Identify, innovate, and ensure execution of ideas to improve service delivery and client retention.
  • Build solid relationships with executive-level clients and shopper insights professionals to set and manage client expectations.
  • Learn all aspects of our clients’ businesses and leverage that knowledge to increase our reach.
  • Develop and maintain strategic working relationships with key clients and vendors, including review and approval of contracts.
  • Influence the research agenda that drives client insights.
  • Deliver impactful presentations with actionable insights to executive clients on a regular basis.

Operational Management

  • Actively lead and support a positive, proactive, results oriented work culture that is innovative and aligns with Locately’s market leadership and values.
  • Drive greater levels of operational efficiency and excellence in the enterprise.
  • Lead the operations of the firm to achieve key performance targets.
  • Work on internal initiatives to help develop and grow our business.
  • Determine staffing and recruiting needs for the firm in consultation with key managers.
  • Provide direction and oversight of budgets, fee proposals, and negotiations.
  • Oversee talent selection, development, performance appraisal, and compensation.
  • Develop, coach, and manage direct reports.

Strategic Leadership & Financial Management

  • As a member of the executive team, participate in key company meetings/decisions and maintain a strong partnership with other members of the senior leadership team.
  • Provide management/planning associated with all areas of the business.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
  • Maintain financial accountability for the organization; set annual targets and maintain control of cost.
  • Ensure that key financial performance indicators are in place to achieve financial performance goals and strategic plans.
  • Provide financial performance reports to company stakeholders.

Desired Skills & Experience

Our ideal VPCS is a creative and inclusive leader who can build credible relationships with clients at various levels within an organization, especially at the executive level, and can communicate complex, business-outcome focused information to multiple audiences in a clear and engaging way. As VPCS, you must possess exceptional time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills as well as superb communication and people skills. In addition, you must be able to influence the broader leadership team within Locately and its parent company, Service Management Group (SMG).

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree a plus
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with 5+ years managing relationships with C-level clients, managing and developing employees and presenting suggestions/solutions
  • Demonstrated experience driving business change either client-side or vendor-side
  • Shopper insights experience
  • Experience analyzing data and translating numbers into concrete consultative advice
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness and availability to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Experience working with clients in the CPG industry, as a vendor or otherwise, preferred
  • Market research and/or consulting experience a plus

Software Engineer, Mobile Applications


We are looking for an exceptional software engineer with the capability to design and build practical and engaging mobile applications at the core of a growing Business Intelligence technology company.



Locately is currently building a new mobile research platform designed to offer customers an exciting, rewarding, and fun way to share their opinions and experiences directly from their handheld devices. A successful candidate will innovate within emerging mobile development frameworks to deliver cutting-edge iOS and Android applications to a fast-growing user base. We are a company built around our mobile technology. This candidate would have a high degree of autonomy and would be a critical component of our growing team. Their primary responsibilities would be to build on our portfolio of early stage and emerging mobile products that collect data for ingest by our back-end business intelligence system.

The right candidate must be an experienced mobile developer, a versatile problem solver, and have a passion for data. The experience will be hands-on, working collaboratively with experienced software developers. Qualified applicants should have:

  • Strong interest in building multi-functional, customer-facing mobile applications
  • Deep technical knowledge of mobile software development (either iOS or Android) and past experience deploying applications to the iTunes App Store or Google Play
  • Deep experience with web services architecture, REST interfaces, XML and JSON parsing
  • Considerable experience in object-oriented programming (Objective-C, Python, Java, C# etc.) within a collaborative team environment
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated experience with user-facing, graphically oriented UI frameworks (Android, iOS, Sencha Touch and JQuery Mobile), application design, and reactive touch-based UIs
  • Development experience with cross-platform mobile development tools / frameworks (e.g. MoSync, Xamarin, RhoMobile, Appcelerator)
  • Skilled in web frameworks/languages including Django, CSS, JavaScript, and HTML5

Backend Engineer, Application & Infrastructure Technologies


We are looking for an exceptional back-end software engineer with the capability to design and build robust, elegant, and efficient systems at the core of our growing Business Intelligence technology company.


Locately is currently building a new mobile research platform designed to offer customers an exciting, rewarding, and fun way to share their opinions and experiences directly from their handheld device. The successful candidate will innovate within our current and future server-side analytic engines, mobile API, and internal webapps. The objective is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data ingest, information processing, data storage/retrieval, geo-spatial analytics and decision-support visualizations. This role involves a mix of software design, coding and testing, as well as prototyping in support of business development. You would also leverage and contribute to our cutting-edge, 100% cloud-based develops infrastructure on Amazon Web Services.


Our small-team environment is fast-paced, expansive, ever-evolving, and highly rewarding. The right candidate must be an experienced back-end developer, a versatile problem solver, and have a passion for data. The experience will be hands-on, working collaboratively with other experienced software engineers to build and optimize large-scale systems.


Your qualifications should include:

  • Strong interest in building sophisticated analytics systems to provision collection tasks, to ingest mobile-sensed data, to analyze and to drive decision making
  • 1-5 years of software engineering experience with extensive exposure to the processing, storage and retrieval of big data sets
  • Strong sense of software craftsmanship, preference for code clarity over cleverness, pride in your work, and a collaborative attitude
  • Deep technical knowledge of Python and relational database technologies including PostgreSQL
  • Proficient in web frameworks/languages including Django, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, and HTML5
  • Development/operational experience with Unix-based operating systems
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience improving and maintaining Open Source Software
